Breaking Bread’ Breakfast Club Project

At The Salvation Army Australia, we have a deep commitment to offering hope where it’s needed most. Our mission is to share the love by caring for people and building healthy communities. As a charity, we provide holistic support, addressing the needs of the body, mind, and spirit for individuals and communities across Australia. In the Gungahlin community, we are passionately expanding our “Breaking Bread” Breakfast Club Project. This initiative provides free, nutritious breakfasts and weekly fruit deliveries to approximately 1,200 students across three schools, helping them start their school day well, feel supported, and build a sense of belonging. The Community Kickstart Grant will enable us to sustain our current service level, expand to at least two more schools in 2026, strengthen partnerships, and promote student well-being through consistent access to healthy meals, ensuring a lasting positive impact on the next generation.

Prepare for Work, through Work’

Jigsaw Canberra is confidently carving a new path to inclusive employment for people with disabilities, driven by our innovative “prepare for work, through work” model. We’re not just training; we’re empowering individuals with real-world experience, equipping them with essential skills and paid work experience that leads to sustainable, award-wage employment. Our vision is an Australia where everyone, regardless of ability, is fully included in the workforce, and our impressive 91% employment retention rate for graduates speaks volumes about our success. With the Community Kickstart Grant, we will amplify our impact, expanding our capacity to support even more individuals in Canberra to achieve their employment dreams. This vital funding will enable us to reach more people, strengthen our programs, and ultimately build a more inclusive and equitable Australia where every talent is recognised and valued.

Inclusive Exercise Program

At Canberra Blind Society, for over 67 years, we’ve been a steadfast beacon of care, communication, and support for individuals in the ACT and surrounding region whose lives are touched by blindness or low vision. We passionately believe in maximising personal resources and abilities, fostering independence through a safe and welcoming environment. Our diverse programs, from the Men’s Group to Sense-Able Cooking, celebrate passions and build vital connections. With the Community Kickstart Grant, we’re set to launch a dynamic, accessible weekly exercise program. This initiative will empower people with vision impairment to enhance their physical health, build self-confidence, and forge stronger social bonds, creating a healthier, more connected future where everyone can thrive.
